Membership in the South Bay Amateur Radio Society (SOBARS) is open to amateur radio operators and non-amateur radio operators alike. Any licensed Amateur Radio Operator may apply for Full Membership status which includes all rights and privileges of membership (including voting) in the Society. Any person who is interested in Amateur Radio may apply for Associate Membership in the Society for the purpose of enjoying the fellowship of the Society’s members. An Associate Member may participate in all club activities except voting, operation of the Society’s Club station, use of the Club’s call sign and holding an elective office within the Society.
Applicants for membership must express their willingness to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws and amendments or changes as voted by the Society members. Gaining membership shall consist of the following steps:
- Submission of an application at a regular meeting or by mail.
- Proof of a valid Amateur Radio License (in the case of an application for Full Membership).
- Payment of dues for the current year (dues are currently set at $20.00 per year, payable by check, cash or money order).
